Location Climate History Activities Occupation Photos Videos Eresos is located in the Southwestern part of the island. Volcanic landscapes, remarkable historical monuments, old monasteries, beautiful beaches, superb facilities for accommodation and food. East of Eresos you will find Mesotopos and to the north Antissa. The months April, May, June, September and October have a nice average temperature. On average, the warmest months are June, July and August. The coolest month is January. The average annual maximum temperature is 22.0° Celsius and the average annual minimum temperature is 14.0° Celsius. Among the important sites such as the Acropolis – Fort Vigla – the ancient city is built on a hill near the beach of Skala. In the area of the archeological site, excavations have revealed important findings, many of which are exposed in the museum. The magnificent mansions that adorn the village, witness the economic and cultural boom that has been seen in the place. The birthplace of the poet Sappho and the philosopher Theophrastos is a lively yet peaceful area. Especially interesting is the “Theofrasteio”, one of the most beautiful schools of Lesvos with several elements of classic architecture. In Skala Eresos you will find one of the nicest sandy beaches on the island, with bars, café’s restaurants, taverna’s and accommodation right on the beach. Here you can also find a well known meditation center. Sigri is half an hour away and is a traditional fishing village with a Castle built by the Ottomans in 1757 the Petrified Forest and the Museum of Natural History. What is also worth visiting is the first Digital Museum in Greece, of the famous painter Iakovidis, in Hidira and also a bit further the Monastery of Pythari.
